The present invention is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament and to an insert(12, 19) for such a device. The insert comprises a cup-shaped body with a distal end and a proximal end. The body has a sidewall (13) and a tube (14) extends centrally through the cup-shaped body in the longitudinal direction defining an annular space between the sidewall (13) and the tube (14). This space is open in the proximal direction for receiving a compression spring (130). The tube (14) comprises a thread (17) provided at its inner surface. Further, the tube (14), the sidewall (13) and/or a second part (19) comprise a clutch feature (18, 19a) for rotationally constraining a component part(40) to the insert (12, 19).
