The invention relates to a device for controlling containers for the disposal of sharps in medical practice, designed to follow the traceability of said containers during their activity, detecting the irregularities in relation to the standards established for their safe usage, comprising a support secured to the wall or with a support base, which defines a rectangular opening in which same evenly fits, introduced via the upper part thereof, with each container being correctly identifiable by means of a scannable code, such as a bar code or QR code, printed on a scannable label adhered to one of the external faces, while the support contains a sensor device inside for detecting the level of load received and linked to a microprocessor, the information of which is shown on a display installed in the front section of the support with a visual and acoustic alarm signal and with the possibility of displaying the time the container has spent in use and same is transmitted remotely, with the circuit being supplied with power via batteries or accumulators disposed inside the support.La presente invención se refiere a un dispositivo controlador de contenedores para el descarte de elementos cortopunzantes en la práctica médica destinado a seguir la trazabilidad de dichos contenedores durante su actividad detectando las irregularidades respecto de los estándares establecidos para su uso seguro, que comprende, un soporte, fijado a la pared o con base de apoyo, que define una embocadura rectangular en la que calza con justeza, introducido por su parte superior, cada contenedor debidamente identificable mediante un código escaneable, como el de barras o el QR, impreso en una etiqueta escaneable adherida a una de sus caras externas, en tanto que el soporte contiene en su interior un dispositivo sensor del nivel admitido de carga vinculado a un microprocesador cuya información se registra en un display instalado en el tramo frontal del soporte con señal de alarma visual y acústica
