The current invention presents a system for rapid detection of bacteria combined with decontamination by means of phage administration, the so called SID (See, Identify, Destroy) system. SID is characterized by a procedure where A)Surfaces are scanned for microbial presence, B) in case of unwanted microbial presence the micro-organism is identified up to its serotype, and C) the found contamination is eliminated with the use of bacteriophages. SID works by combining phage administration techniques with detection methods for contamination search and rapid DNA, RNA and mRNA sequencing for bacterial identification and classification. Through directed sequencing characteristic genes of the contaminating organism are identified enabling apt, immediate and automatic action by means of lytic bacteriophage decontaminants.
