The invention relates to a modular articulated spacer system for screw-basedassembly of anarticular spacer intended to replace an artificial joint temporarily, wherebythe articulated spacersystem comprises at least two modules (1, 2) that can be connected by means ofa screwconnection (5, 6, 12), whereby a first module (1) of the articular spacersystem comprises asurface for formation of a sliding surface of the joint of the articularspacer and a second module(2) of the articular spacer system comprises a stem for connection to a bone,in which themodules (1, 2) that can be connected by means of the screw connection (5, 6,12) comprise atlast one screw-locking device (8, 18) for each screw connection (5, 6, 12),whereby the at leastone screw-locking device (8, 18) is connected to one of the modules (1, 2) oris provided in theform of the same part as one of the modules (1, 2).The invention also relates to a method for building-up an articular spacerusing said articulatedspacer system, in which the articular spacer is screwed together using atleast two modules (1,2), which are selected from a multitude of different modules (1, 2) to suitthe anatomy and/ortreatment situation, whereby the modules (1, 2) are screwed togetherappropriately such thatthe screw-locking devices (8, 18) prevent the modules (1, 2) from detaching orbeingunscrewed. And lastly, the invention relates to the use of an articular spacermade from saidarticulated spacer system as a temporary place-holder for an artificial joint.
