The present invention relates to an IPL apparatus for controlling luminescence of a lamp with respect to skin of a user and a control method thereof. According to the present invention, an IPL apparatus for controlling luminescence of a lamp with respect to skin of a user comprises: a high voltage generation unit for converting commercial power to high voltage； a charging unit for charging high voltage applied from the high voltage generation unit； a flash lamp unit for enabling a flash lamp to emit light by receiving high voltage from the charging unit； a skin sensing unit for sensing skin color of the user； and a control unit for controlling luminescence of the flash lamp corresponding to skin color of the user sensed in the skin sensing unit.본 발명은 사용자 피부에 따라 램프 발광을 제어하는 IPL 장치 및 그 제어 방법에 관한 것이다.본 발명에 따른 사용자 피부에 따라 램프 발광을 제어하는 IPL 장치는, 상용 전원을 고전압으로 변환하는 고전압 발생부； 상기 고전압 발생부에서 인가되는 고전압을 충전하는 충전부； 상기 충전부로부터 고전압을 제공받아 플래시 램프를 발광시키는 플래시 램프부； 사용자의 피부 색상을 감지하는 피부 감지부； 및 상기 피부 감지부에서 감지된 사용자의 피부 색상에 상응하여 상기 플래시 램프의 발광을 제어하는 제어부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
