A medical device comprises a catheter having a lumen extending between a distal end and a proximal end of the catheter and a balloon having an expandable interior volume coupled to the distal end of the catheter with its interior volume in fluid communication with the lumen of the catheter. A spring-loadable mechanical structure is disposed within the balloon configured to snap between first and second configurations upon actuation by an actuation mechanism. Upon actuation, the spring-loadable mechanical structure creates pressure pulses in fluid within the balloon interior volume which are transmitted to the walls of the balloon to disrupt calcified material or other hardened material within a vessel of the human or animal body in which the balloon is situated.L'invention concerne un dispositif médical comprenant un cathéter ayant une lumière s'étendant entre une extrémité distale et une extrémité proximale du cathéter et un ballonnet ayant un volume intérieur expansible couplé à l'extrémité distale du cathéter avec son volume intérieur en communication fluidique avec la lumière du cathéter. Une structure mécanique pouvant être chargée par un ressort est disposée à l'intérieur du ballonnet et configurée pour s'encliqueter entre des première et seconde configurations lors de l'actionnement par un mécanisme d'actionnement. Lors de l'actionnement, la structure mécanique pouvant être chargée par un ressort crée des impulsions de pression dans le fluide à l'intérieur du volume intérieur du ballonnet qui sont transmises aux parois du ballonnet pour perturber un matériau calcifié ou un autre matériau durci à l'intérieur d'un vaisseau du corps humain ou animal dans lequel se trouve le ballonnet.
