A stapling apparatus includes a cartridge assembly, an anvil assembly (60), and a buttress material. The cartridge assembly includes pushers (33) configured to eject the respective surgical staples (11) from the cartridge assembly, and an outer wall (90) defining a cavity and having a finger (94) deflectably extending over the cavity. The buttress material includes an annular body (110) and a tab (150) extending proximally from the annular body (110) such that at least a portion of the tab (150) is wrapped around the finger (94) of the outer wall (90) of the staple cartridge assembly (70). The pushers (33) are movable between a first position in which one of the pushers (33) engages the finger (94) such that the tab (150) is secured against the one of the pushers (33), and a second position in which the one of the pushers (33) is disengaged from the finger (94) such that a portion of the tab (150) is released from the one of the pushers (33).
