Disclosed is a carboxy amide substituted compound of formula (III) where the substituents are as disclosed it the specification. The compounds are useful as NF-kappaB inhibitors. Also disclosed is a composition comprising a compound of formula (III) and the use of a compound of formula (III) in the manufacture of a medicament for treating diseases characterized by hyperproliferation of cells such as epilepsy, stroke and Alzheimers diseases. Examples of compounds are: 2-[3-(2-Trifluoromethoxy-phenyl)-ureido]-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid 2-(2-Trifluoromethoxy-benzoylarnino)-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid (4-dimethylamino-[1,3,5]triazin-2-yl)-amide and 1-{ 4-[N-(1H-Benzoimidazol-2-yl)-guanidinocarbonyl]-thiazol-2-yl} -3-(2-trifluoromethoxy-phenyl)-urea.
