PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight for aquariums which, while illuminating an aquarium exactly from a back surface at low cost, can enhancing a visual effect, and aquarium with the backlight.SOLUTION: The backlight 10 for an aquarium prepared at the back surface of an aquarium includes a top plate 11, a backboard 12 inclined from the upper part to the lower part as if as projecting ahead, and a light source part 15 arranged on the undersurface of the top plate 11 to irradiate light downward, wherein the light from the light source part 15 is reflected to the inside surface of the backboard 12 to illuminate the aquarium from the back surface.
