The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a prosthetic member including a glass-ceramic body. The method a) providing a basic body containing an amorphous glass phase and containing the components of the glass ceramic body to be produced, and b) transferring energy to the body to induce conversion of the starting phase of the material of the body into one or more crystalline phases in a confined area.
