The applicator includes a lance (5,41), such as a bladder, having a distal end with one or more optical sensors (10), and a needle guide (6,42) having a bore (14,45) . The needle guide includes needle channels (17, 48) at different angular positions, each extending between a needle entry surface and an opposite shoulder surface (18).
