PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new improved device and surgical method for mending an upper-arm fracture, capable of reducing surgical problems.SOLUTION: An intramedullary nail useful for mending a long-bone fracture is provided. The nail has a soft state permitting insertion of the nail through an optionally selected number of incisions offset from the center of an intramedullary tube, and a hardened state for mending the long bone by providing appropriate support.
