A novel system for delivering a therapeutic agent to a target tissue is disclosed. The configuration of the guide wire (520) and cannula (500) allows for rapid and repeated treatment of the target tissue without the need for subsequent imaging. The cannula is coupled to a source of ultrasound, radiation, radio frequency energy, or chemotherapeutic agents that can subsequently be delivered from the cannula to the target tissue. The system can be used to treat small or inoperable tumors.
