PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial composition containing a biocide in combination with polyamine, and to provide a method for enhancing antimicrobial activity of a biocide.SOLUTION: A composition contains a) an antimicrobial agent selected from a biocide containing a halogen atom and/or a phenol moiety, a formic acid, chlorine dioxide, a chlorine dioxide generating compound and dialdehyde； and a component containing antimicrobial metal such as antimicrobial silver, b) polyamine, particularly, polyethyleneimine, where the polyamine is effective as a booster for the antimicrobial agent.
