PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new application for an extract of Hokkaido-grown Larix leptolepis.
SOLUTION: The immune balance modulator comprises a solvent-extract of Hokkaido-grown Larix leptolepis. The immune balance modulator whose effective component is a solvent-extract of Hokkaido-grown Larix leptolepis being a natural ingredient, is a composition which has an effect to modulate and normalize the immune balance of a living body and is highly safe. This invention is completed by the inventors who have found that the solvent-extract of Hokkaido-grown Larix leptolepis, when administered to mice exhibits an amelioration effect on allergic diseases caused by an excessive type 2 immunoresponse through modulating the immune balance in addition to infection protection and antitumor activity by virtue of the type 1 immunoactivation effect.
