PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple-structured locking mechanism having better locking capability and operability.SOLUTION: A locking mechanism 5 which puts a rod-like object 7 having an engagement member 7a at its tip in a lock state or unlock state on a mounting member 6 comprises: a locking member 2 including an opening 24 into which the rod-like object 7 can be inserted and a catching member 23 which is to be engaged with an engagement member 7a of the rod-like object 7 a spring means S for pressing the locking member 2 in the engagement direction and an operation part 3 for operating the locking member 2. When the rod-like object 7 is inserted into the opening 24, the locking member 2 is moved by the pressing force from the spring means S and puts the rod-like object 7 into a lock state that makes it impossible to pull out the rod-like object 7 after the engagement member is engaged with the catching member.
