A method for detecting the presence of a personal medical device inside a subject (104) prepared for undergoing a medical procedure, which includes the steps of: obtaining patient data for the subject (104) using the module (130) of the medical device； analyzing the patient data using the module (130) of the medical device to determine the presence of a personal medical device； and provide information regarding the presence of a personal medical device. 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the patient data for the subject (104) is obtained from the image data (306). The method according to claim 2, wherein the image data (306) is obtained from a survey scan of a subject (104) or from at least one previous scan procedure of a subject (104). The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which patient data for a subject (104) is obtained by polling at least one database using a module (130) of a medical device to collect information about a personal medical device. The method according to claim 4, in which the survey of at least one database comprises a survey of at least one of: a database (210) of electronic medical records, a database (220) of hospital information system data, a database (230) of radiological information system data, databases (240) of data from archiving and transmission systems, databases (250) from manufacturers of medical device manufacturers, databases (260) from manufacturers of medical imaging scanners or databases (270) from regulatory authorities. 6.
