PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable air cleaner capable of supporting an air cleaning material having sufficient antibacterial activity with a simple structure, achieving stable quantitation, volatilization amount, and volatilization rate of the supported air cleaning material, having light weight, strength against external pressure, and uniform product quality, and capable of being safely used with low environmental load in disposal.SOLUTION: A portable air cleaner includes many pieces of porous solid carriers supporting an air cleaning material having volatility which are accommodated in a portable container having vent holes partially. The air cleaning material volatilizing from each of the porous solid carriers is emitted from the vent holes so as to clean the air around the container. Each of the porous solid carriers is made of a granule having a predetermined diameter, which is artificially produced from a raw material organic material, formed of approximately homogeneous substance having fine pores with approximately uniform diameter at least on the surface at a predetermined density.
