The invention is related to a novel medical use of antimicrobial peptides for treating cancer. After analysis and validation, the antimicrobial peptides show potent anticancer activity against liver cancer cell lines, the activity of caspase-3 can be activated, with no significant cytotoxicity toward normal cells. In addition, the invention also provides a use of preparing these antimicrobial peptides to a pharmaceutical composition for treating liver cancer.本發明係關於抗菌胜肽之新穎醫藥用途,係可用以治療癌症,尤其適用於治療肝癌。經活體外(in vitro)試驗及分析,該等抗菌胜肽係可造成肝癌細胞之凋亡、活化半胱胺酸蛋白酶-3(caspase-3)之活性,進而可用於治療肝癌。此外,該等抗菌胜肽對正常細胞無明顯之毒性。此外,本發明亦提供該等抗菌胜肽於製備一抗肝癌醫藥組合物之用途。
