A device (1) for administering a powdered medicament to a patient by inhalation is described. The device (1) comprises a body (2), an internal housing (3) in the body (2), an inhalation channel (4), a mouthpiece (5), and a dose provisioning member (6). The dose provisioning member (6) comprises at least one cavity (7,7a,7b,7c) for accommodation of a powdered medicament, the dose provisioning member (6) further being enabled to adopt a first position in which the cavity (7,7a,7b,7c) is out of alignment with the inhalation channel (4) and a second position in which the cavity (7,7a,7b,7c) is in alignment with the inhalation channel (4). Each cavity (7,7a,7b,7c) is prefilled with a single dose (8,8a,8b,8c) of a powdered medicament, wherein the powdered medicament is solely stored in each cavity (7,7a,7b,7c) and the device (1) is free of a powder reservoir for storing a plurality of doses. A protective member (9) is provided within the housing (3), the protective member (9) being enabled to adopt a first position in which a part of the protective member (9) lies in the inhalation channel (4) such that the cross-section of the inhalation channel (4) is covered by a wall of the protective member (9) and to adopt a second position in which the protective member (9) does not lie in the inhalation channel (4) such that the cross-section of the inhalation channel (4) is not covered by a wall of the protective member (9).
