The invention relates to radioprotectors of formula (I), processes for their preparationand their use in protecting biological materials from radiation damage. In diagnosticand therapeutic radiology, particularly in cancer radiotherapy, the radioprotectorsof the present invention may be used to protect certain normal tissues or structuresfrom radiation damage. The radioprotectors of formula (I) may also have usesin decreasing the effects of irradiation in non-medical scenarios, both civiland military.
