Adaptive acoustic pressure estimation (40) is provided in medical ultrasound. The responses of tissue of a specific patient at different frequencies (for example, linear and non-linear responses) are measured (30). The responses are used to determine acoustic pressure (38). The measurement in the specific patient adapts an estimate to the patient.
