Disclosed is a process of making a compressed tablet having 20 to 360 mg of valsartan in free form as the only active agent, which amounts to 20 to 65% by weight of valsartan； 31 to 65% by weight of microcrystalline cellulose； and optionally crospovidone (wherein the weight ratio of microcrystalline cellulose to crospovidone is from 7:1 to 1:1)； based on the total weight of the core components of said compressed tablet, wherein said process comprises the steps of i) grinding the active agent and pharmaceutically acceptable additives； ii) subjecting a mixture of the ground active agent and additives to compression to form a comprimate； iii) converting the comprimate to form a granulate； and iv) compressing the granulate to form the compressed tablet.
