The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating edema, comprising butein or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention can treat edema arising due to anti-cancer treatment and the like. The composition according to the present invention is used for treating edema in a chemical scheme other than physical schemes used in the conventional treatment methods. As a result of administering the composition comprising butein into edema-induced mice, the size of edema was confirmed to be specifically reduced.본 발명은 부테인(butein) 또는 그 약제학적으로 허용되는 염을 포함하는 부종의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 항암치료 등에서 의해 발생하는 후천적 부종의 치료가 가능하다. 본 발명의 조성물은 물리적인 방식을 가진 기존 치료 방법을 화학적 방식으로 전환하여 접근한 것으로, 부테인을 포함하는 조성물을 부종 유도 마우스에 투여한 결과, 부종의 크기가 현저하게 줄어든다는 것을 확인하였다.
