The invention provides a medication management system (MMS) whichincludes a medication management unit (MMU) associated with oneor more medical devices and methods of utilizing the MMS. Themedical device receives delivery information only from the MMU.The medication order is performed only after delivery datavalidation. The MMU also determines drug-drug incompatibility.The MMU can modulate (start, stop, sequence and dynamicallyadjust) medication order performance. The MMU can evaluate theperformance of medical devices and caregivers based medicaldevice feedback. The MMU can also transit instructions fordynamically adjusting the screen brightness of a pump screendisplay. Thus,hospital users of the system are able to morereadily automatically identify devices and caregivers that arebehaving abnormally and take appropriate action to improve deviceoperation, patient safety and caregiver productivity.
