The invention relates to a system for inserting an intravenous catheter, in particular to a system for inserting a closed intravenous catheter that avoids the exposure of medical personnel to the bodily fluids of the patient during the insertion of the catheter, with a retractable needle cannula in a bellows-type manual mechanism in order to prevent the reuse thereof, accidental puncture events and the safe disposal thereof. Said CPIVCSS has the advantages of: (a) avoiding the exposure of medical personnel to contaminated fluids or blood during the insertion of the catheter in the patient (b) reducing the possibility of multiple punctures and (c) having a safety system which is easy to operate. The Closed Peripheral Intravenous Catheter with Safety System is made up of two systems, which are the puncture and safety system, made up of: (2) the puncture cannula, (10) a mounting body, (11) a holding body, (9) a bellows-type flexible tube, (8) a viewing chamber and filter, and (13) fil ter paper and the closed peripheral intravenous catheter, made up of: (3) the catheter hub or connector, (1) the catheter tube, (12) the hub seal, (4) the attachment flanges, (5) the flow tube, (6) the flow-closing lock, and (7) the multi-puncture connector.Esta invención se refiere a un sistema de introducción de un catéter intravenoso, particularmente a un sistema de introducción de un catéter intravenoso cerrado que evita la exposición, de personal médico, a fluidos corporales del paciente durante la colocación del catéter y con una cánula de aguja retráctil en un mecanismo manual de tipo fuelle para evitar su re-uso, eventos de punción accidental y su eliminación segura.
