The present invention relates to a composition for whitening and improving skin, and more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition and a cosmetic composition for whitening and improving the skin, which comprise malaxinic acid. According to the present invention, malaxinic acid has an inhibitory activity on melanin synthesis in melanocytes, and thus is effective in whitening and improving the skin. Additionally, the pharmaceutical composition for whitening and improving the skin according to the present invention comprises malaxinic acid isolated from pears and one or more rarely utilized pear materials including unripe pears, and therefore can be utilized without concern for toxicity.본 발명은 피부미백개선용 조성물에 대한 것으로, 보다 구체적으로는 멜라닌생성을 억제하는 말락시닉산을 포함하는 피부미백개선용 약학조성물 및 화장료조성물에 관한 것이다.
