A cut pattern design for fabricating a frame structure from a solid tube that can be used as a part of a medical device such as a catheter. The tube includes a plurality of units of cutout segments distributed within a band around the circumference of the tube. The tube may have a plurality of different zones 1-4, each zone having a unit containing various cutout segments. The cutout segments may have various cutout surface areas so that the flexibility of the tube can be modified anywhere along the tube. By modifying the cutout surface area, zones having a larger cutout surface area will be more flexible than other zones. This tube can be integrated into a catheter.
