PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly extract the contour of a target tissue while maintaining the whole shape of the target tissue as much as possible.
SOLUTION: A contour forming part 18 forms original contour data showing the contour of the target tissue, on the basis of a reception signal obtained via ultrasonic waves. A contour correction part 20 forms full-view-of contour data by Fourier series to a predetermined low order which is obtained by expanding the original contour data to Fourier series based on an ellipse. Next, the contour correction part 20 forms compound contour data corresponding to a compound area obtained by the OR of an area corresponding to the original contour data and an area corresponding to the full-view-of contour data. Then, contour correction part 20 forms corrected contour data by Fourier series to a predetermined high order which is obtained by expanding the compound contour data to Fourier series based on an ellipse.
