PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an efficient imaging using hardware up to the limit.
SOLUTION: This magnetic resonance imaging apparatus obtains temperature information providing indications of the temperatures of a gradient magnetic field coil unit 6 and a gradient magnetic field amplifier 7 from temperature sensors 18, 19 and 20 and a current monitor 21. A host computer 16 detects the occurrence of an alert state where the temperatures of the gradient magnetic field coil unit 6 and the gradient magnetic field amplifier 7 are likely to rise enough to affect the imaging, on the basis of the obtained information, and controls the imaging so as to suppress temperature rise of the gradient magnetic field coil unit 6 and the gradient magnetic field amplifier 7 according to the detection.
