The present invention relates to a planting system (301) that comprises a planting receptacle (302) and a hollow cylinder (101, 201) for receiving a root ball of a plant (401), the hollow cylinder (101, 201) being arranged at least partly inside the planting receptacle (302) in such a manner that the axis of the hollow cylinder (101, 201) is essentially perpendicular to a bottom of the planting receptacle (302), and soil (303) arranged in a space between the planting receptacle (302) and the hollow cylinder (101, 201). The present invention also relates to a method for transplanting a plant.
