An infrared-sensing running wheel system is disclosed. The infrared-sensing running wheel system comprises a running wheel for an animal running therein, a plurality of infrared-sensors disposed beside the running wheel in sequence by a distance interval for sensing the position of the animal, and a control element electrically connected to the running wheel and the infrared-sensors. The plurality of infrared-sensors together define an effective exercise range in the running wheel. The control element obtains the position of the animal by using the infrared-sensors and determines the relationship between the position of the animal and the effective exercise range.
