The invention relates to a device (1) for loading and transporting round bales (2), comprising a base frame (3), which has two longitudinal frame parts (7) to form a loading bed (9) for the round bales (2), wherein the longitudinal frame parts (7) have at their front end an inlet shape (10) to receive the round bales (2), and wherein the longitudinal frame parts (2) can at least partly be displaced from a travel position into a receiving position for the round bales (2), and having a drawbar, which is fixed to the base frame (3) such that the drawbar can be pivoted from a transport position into a loading position, wherein the base frame (3) is formed in the manner of a cage from a plurality of side pieces (5) and the longitudinal frame parts (7) connected thereto, and on the base frame (3) two or more first lifting axles (23) are arranged via axes of rotation, via which the lifting/lowering movement of the base frame (3) can be carried out, and the loading of a round bale (2) in the direction of travel or counter to the direction of travel can be carried out via the pulling or pushing force of a traction vehicle.
