A method for transforming a sound signal into a signal capable of compensating for the hearing loss of a hearing impaired person using a hearing instrument with a receiver, a processing unit and a transmitter, includes the following steps: a) receiving an input signal by the receiver, the input signal being representative for a sound signal； b) processing the received signal by the processing unit, the processing including the step of filtering； and c) providing the processed signal by the transmitter； where the processing further includes the step of squaring the received signal, the filtering taking place on the squared signal.L'invention porte sur un procédé pour la transformation d'un signal sonore en un signal apte à compenser la perte auditive d'une personne malentendante par utilisation d'une prothèse auditive dotée d'un récepteur, d'une unité de traitement et d'un émetteur, ledit procédé comprenant les étapes suivantes : a) la réception d'un signal d'entrée par le récepteur, ledit signal d'entrée étant représentatif d'un signal sonore ； b) le traitement du signal reçu par l'unité de traitement, ledit traitement comprenant l'étape de filtrage ； et c) la fourniture du signal traité par l'émetteur ； le traitement comprenant en outre l'étape d'élévation au carré du signal reçu, le filtrage ayant lieu sur le signal élevé au carré. L'invention porte également sur une prothèse auditive et sur l'utilisation de ladite prothèse auditive.
