A method for transesophageal echocardiography simulation, comprising the steps of providing a simulator interface for the transesophageal echocardiography simulation, obtaining a scan of a patients tissue by using computer tomography； processing a graphical data set of the scan into a modified graphical data set of the scan, being a three-dimensional data structure, in order make the graphical data set substantially resemble data sets obtained from physical transesophageal echocardiography； obtaining a further modified graphical data set of the scan wherein each image of the modified graphical data set is provided with information defining placement of the patient's oesophagus； storing on a computer readable medium a data set defining the further modified graphical data set of the scan； and providing a virtual, computer implemented user interface for navigating a virtual probe within the three-dimensional further modified graphical data set of the scan.
