The present invention generally relates to iron-polysaccharide (polydextrose)complexes andmethods for the preparation thereof. In particular, the present inventionrelates to iron-polydextrosecomplexes and methods for the preparation thereof. The inventive complexesare suitable for use in various compositions, including particulatecompositions that may beincorporated in various forms of administration, including tablets, capsules,and intravenousformulations. The complexes and compositions of the present invention aresuitable for usein the treatment of iron deficient anemia. Advantageously, in addition toproviding ironsupplementation the complexes and compositions of the present inventionprovide certainadvantages based on the presence of polydextrose (e.g., its low glycemic indexand highfiber content).
