Cantilever inversion table 1 for exercise or medical treatment that comprises a base 4, not more than one support post 3 mounted on the base 4, a support surface 2 comprising a foot support 8 mounted at one end, and a bracket 12 mounted to the rear of the support surface 2. The bracket 12 includes an axle portion 14 protruding rearwards at right angles from the support surface 2 and is rotatably mounted within an axle housing member 15 on the support post 3, the support surface 2 being rotatable through at least 180 degrees about a central longitudinal axis of the axle 14, allowing a user to move from an upright position to an inverted position. The table 1 may also include restraints, hand supports 6 and a head rest 5. An electric motor can drive the rotation of the table 1 or it can be manually spun upside down using a circular handrail (Fig 3, 20).
