PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition and a method for maintaining blood glucose homeostasis.SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition comprises oxytocin. The pharmaceutical composition enhances insulin secretion in the presence of high glucose concentration (hyperglycemia) and increases glucagon secretion in the presence of low glucose concentration (hypoglycemia).
