When inputting characters based on a brain-computer interface, a brain signal and a biosignal of a preset type of a user staring at a plurality of characters and a character array to which a visual stimulus inducing a brain signal for each character is outputted are measured in parallel. The measured brain signal is analyzed to detect a probability of each of the characters being a target character. One or more among the characters is selected as candidate characters based on the detected probability. Visual feedback information for identifying the selected candidate characters is outputted to the character array. The measured biosignal is analyzed to generate an interrupt signal at a time point when strength of the biosignal exceeds a preset threshold value.
