The present invention is directed to a fastener that has to be combined with an external object, whereby the external object moves around a remote center of motion. The external object is preferably a medical instrument, such as a cannula or trocar, whereby the remote center of movement is the patient's abdomen. The fastener consists of two members, generating movement in both in a longitudinal and rotational manner. The clip may be used to support another object, in a particular embodiment a camera, suitable for endoscopic (laparoscopic) surgery, and is provided with means for generating movement both longitudinally and rotationally following the xyz coordinates.
