Disclosed is a method for introducing a fluorine atom onto a biomolecule, comprising: (i) providing a linker including a thiol-reactive terminus and an azido or an alkyne-reactive terminus (ii)reacting the thiol-reactive terminus of the linker with the biomolecule including at least one thiol group or a derivative of the thiol group which can be activated so as to generate the free thiol group and (iii)subsequently reacting the azido or the alkyne -reactive terminus of the linker with a fluorine-substituted azide or alkyne group wherein the linker is as shown in the figure.
