There is provided an apparatus comprising a rigid gripper configured to be fastened around a cylindrical object. The apparatus further includes a pair of conductors attached to the gripper such that the conductors are in contact with each other while the gripper is fastened around the cylindrical object, at a position along the length of the conductors that vary in response to the diameter of the cylindrical body .
