The magnetic suspension system (1) comprises a support structure (2) having an area provided with a ferromagnetic characteristic, and a carriage (3) comprising a magnet (4) exerting a magnetic attraction force between the carriage (3) and the support structure (2). The carriage (3) comprises a friction reducing device (5) and a drive device (6) configured to drive a motion of the carriage (3) upon the support structure (2) in an arbitrary predetermined direction, the drive device (6) being separate from the friction reducing device (5).
