An ultrasound diagnosis apparatus and a method for controlling the ultrasound diagnosis apparatus are provided. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the ultrasound diagnosis apparatus comprises: an ultrasound probe for transmitting an ultrasound signal to an object, and receiving an ultrasound echo signal from the object so as to form a receiving signal a main body for receiving the receiving signal from the ultrasound probe, and processing the receiving signal an impedance matching circuit for matching an impedance of the ultrasound probe with an impedance of the main body and a control unit for controlling the impedance matching circuit to operate as at least one filter which passes or blocks a signal of a specific frequency band based on the impedance of the ultrasound probe, the impedance of the main body, and interest frequency characteristics of the receiving signal. The at least one filter can control to match the impedance of the ultrasound probe with the impedance of the main body, and can control the receiving signal to include the interest frequency characteristics.
