There are provided, according to the present invention, a zinc salt of an isothiazolone compound represented by the following formula (1); a method for reducing the extent of irritation by converting the isothiazolone compound represented by the formula (1) into a zinc salt; an antibacterial and antifungal method using the zinc salt; and an antibacterial and antifungal composition including at least one kind of the zinc salt, wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and R1 and R2 may bind to each other to form a benzene ring.
