There are provided, according to the present invention, a zinc salt of an isothiazolone compound represented by the following formula (1)； a method for reducing the extent of irritation by converting the isothiazolone compound represented by the formula (1) into a zinc salt； an antibacterial and antifungal method using the zinc salt； and an antibacterial and antifungal composition including at least one kind of the zinc salt, wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl group of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and R1 and R2 may bind to each other to form a benzene ring.
