A membrane device is intended for the release of volatile compositions. The membrane device includes one or more membrane layers which are permeable to the volatile composition and which are positioned within a vapor impermeable package such as package formed by an upper and lower vapor impermeable panel. The upper vapor panel includes a window that allows access to the membrane layer for activation of the membrane device. The membrane device can also include decorative portions for aesthetic appeal.
