PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ion generator which allows for diffusion of high concentration positive and negative ions into a space, and carriage of positive and negative ions far more in high concentration state, while reducing the size and saving the space.SOLUTION: An ion generator having a first discharge electrode generating positive ions, and a second discharge electrode generating negative ions is provided with a top plate covering above the first discharge electrode and second discharge electrode. The top plate has a first ramp arranged in the vicinity of the first discharge electrode, and moving positive ions generated therefrom in the direction away from the second discharge electrode, and a second ramp arranged in the vicinity of the second discharge electrode, and moving negative ions generated therefrom in the direction away from the first discharge electrode.
