PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester-made suture thread which is resistant to sliding and loosening, allows easy knotting, and has high tensile strength.SOLUTION: A suture thread 100 consists of a braid 15 of a plurality of threads 10 (e.g. multi-filaments) composed of a raw material for medical applications (e.g. a polyester) and braided in a tubular form. The braid 15 of the suture thread 100 is formed by drawing it in the axial direction in the range of 70-90% of the plastic deformation limit. The suture thread 100 may include a core thread 12 drawn in the axial direction in the range of 70-90% of the plastic deformation limit, in a hollow part of the tubular braid 15. The suture thread 100 is preferably the same in extensibility as the core thread 12.
