One synthetic aperture acoustic system includes a waveform generation and processing device and an acoustic probe device that are designed to enable generation, transmission, reception, and processing of coherent, spread-spectrum, instantaneous-wideband, coded waveforms in synthetic aperture ultrasound (SAU) applications.
