PURPOSE: A novel Lagerstroemia indica L. plant is provided to ensure a flame pattern and to enhance viewing value. CONSTITUTION: A mutated Lagerstroemia indica L. plant is prepared by irradiating proton beam to the seeds of Lagerstroemia indica L. using MC-50 cyclotron at 750 Gy and inducing mutation. The plant has red leaf color and the width of the plant is smaller than the width of a conventional species. The red color of the plant leaf is maintained until late fall.본 발명은 신품종 배롱나무 변종식물에 관한 것으로서, 배롱나무의 원품종 종자에 양성자빔을 조사하여 얻어지며, 잎의 가장자리가 원품종과는 다르게 붉은 색을 띠며, 전체적인 잎의 크기도 원품종 보다 작은 특성을 갖는다.
